No summer garden should be without these lovely blooms nodding in the breeze! Easily established from Cosmos seeds, these annuals are large branching plants with deep green fern-like leaves. Cosmos Bipinnatus Radiance is a newer hybrid that added a darker rose pink flare at the bottom of each petal and pink veins. The effect is shear beauty! It grows readily from flower seeds, and soon you'll have a beautiful display!
Cosmos wildflowers are native to our own southwest and more commonly, Mexico. The flowers are often called Mexican Aster. They do well in hot, desert type areas, but they easily adapt to many conditions and thrive. They will provide the best blooms with moderate amounts of water. Do not over fertilize the plants as this will decrease the amount of blooms. They will self-sow their own seeds for a new display next season.
Directly sow Cosmos Bipinnatus seeds into prepared seed beds after danger of frost has passed. For a natural setting, the flower seeds can be scattered onto the prepared soil. Lightly rake the soil over the seeds at a depth of 1/16 inch and keep the area moist.
