Carnation is a perennial plant but is grown as an annual plant. Dianthus Caryophyllus can grow to 24 inches tall and has green slender leaves 6 inches long. The Carnations has a flower that is 3-5 cm in width and has a sweet fragrance. The flowers are usually pink, red, yellow, white,  blue and green. Dianthus caryophyllus blooms from summer to fall and also in winter depending on the frost. Carnation attracts bees and butterflies to your garden due to the sweet fragrance. Dianthus caryophyllus prefers well drained soil and full sun for the best results. Carnation seeds are perfect to grow in the cutting garden.
