Helianthus annuus ‘Moulin Rouge’ bears unusual dark red blooms with a dark brown centre. it’s ideal for growing towards the middle of the herbaceous border, and does not require staking. Grow alongside other, yellow-flowered sunflowers for dramatic effect, or use in the cuttings patch. A stunning and memorizing sunflower that will stun you with its unique beauty.

Sow at 1/2" (1cm) deep, at 20-25C. When large enough to handle, thin to 45cm (18in) apart.
For best results, sow Helianthus annuus ‘Moulin Rouge’ seed in individual 10cm pots of moist seed compost in April to May, cover with cling film and place on a sunny windowsill or greenhouse bench. Remove the cling film once the seeds have germinated, and water plants regularly, allowing the water to drain. Pot on into larger pots with multipurpose compost, before eventually planting outside once all risk of frost has passed.
