The Aster amellus 'Rudolf Goethe' is also known as Aster. This lavender-blue variety grows up to 16" (40cm) height. - Easy-to-grow from Aster seeds! This Aster thrives in full-sun and in fertile but rather dry soils. Aster plants do well in the rock garden, front of the border or in containers. Water deeply during dry spells, but avoid wetting the foliage. Butterflies and bees will love the Aster flowers.  It forms a low carpet of bright green leaves, bearing taller branching stems with daisy-shaped flowers in late spring and early summer. It is not as long-lived as some, but it will freely sow its own flower seed to produce successive generations if allowed.
