The Swede is closely related to the summer turnip purple in colour and large in size. The swede comes from the Brassicaceae family and is ideal to grow alongside cabbage, cauliflower, radish and turnips. Brassica napus napobrassica is full of flavour and is one of the best vegetables to add into your stir fry. The Swede can withstand cold of up to -5C (23F) and is extremely hardy. Swede seeds on average germinate within 10-14 days at 15-18C (59-65F). Swede blooms 5-6 months after sowing.
