The leaves of Komatsuna resemble turnip leaves with a spicy flavour which increases with maturity. Leaves can be used individually, seedling plants used whole, or the flower stems can be picked when first produced. They are fast to produce, just one month from sowing. Komatsuna spinach is also frosted hardy to -12C (10F) and will grow best in well-drained loam. Komatsuna red spinach on average germinates at a very fast rate of just 5–10 days at 29.5C (85F). Fantastic addition to diet thanks to its amazing nutritional values.
