Black seeded simpson lettuce is a fantastic crunchy, bitter and sweet lettuce that grows to a medium size and has wonderful crinkled leaves. Lactuca sativa is greatly accompanied by tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetables. Simpson lettuce has a long history of being one of the all-time favourite salad lettuces, it's also a great addition to sandwiches. Black seeded simpson lettuce on average germinates within 7-14 days at 4-16C (39-61F), warmer temperature will allow for slightly faster germination. Simpson lettuce grows best in full sun which will allow it to reach its full size at an optimum speed but growing it in partial shade is completely fine just expect a slightly longer harvest.
