Melon Charentais produces a pale yellow with green stripes cantaloupe melon has superb sweet juicy refreshing flesh with one of the highest suger content packed melons ever. Originally a French heirloom, each of these delicious fruits weighs up to 1 Ib (500g). Open pollinated.  Melons require high temperatures and humidity. In all but the very warmest areas cultivation is most successful in a greenhouse, or under cover of a cold frame. Direct sowing is recommended, but to get a head start you can start melons indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost.
